Bangkok

After Phuket, we headed to Bangkok for two days. What we learn is that Thai people bling like rappers, at least with respect to architecture and giant buddhas. Here are some pics from the National Palace. I am wearing that ridiculous straw hat because we have arrived during a historic heat wave and it is like 114 in Bangkok, no joke. I am wearing that ridiculous long skirt and sweater because we have to be covered up like nuns to enter the grounds of the National Palace. The giant buddha is from next door at Wat Pho.

The next day we decide to take in a different kind of Bangkok treasure -- its airconditioned shopping malls. Happily we find a store that is a foundation that gives people good jobs as an alternative to opium cultivation and prostitution and it happens to sell nice scarves. Guess what everyone is getting for Christmas this year...
